December 2013
Letter from the Artistic Director

Dear Friend of the Rep,

Those Holiday revelries are almost upon us... so be sure to include on your Holiday wish list A Christmas Carol.

For twenty-eight years, this production has been The Rep's gift to the community, a part of our family's tradition-and we want it to be part of yours. But make your reservations now, because the best seats are going fast!

Directed by Debra Ross Calabrese and featuring a cast, crew and orchestra of over 100 talented members of our community, this timeless tale unfolds again on the magnificent Valentine Theatre stage. The show runs December 6th through the 8th. For tickets, contact the Valentine Box Office at 419-242-2787 or online.

And there's a new way for you to celebrate that Christmas Carol "spirit"-mark your calendar for the The Feast of Christmas Present, at Manhattan's Restaurant immediately following the Sunday matinee of the show.  Ticket information is provided below in this month's REPorter.

But most importantly this month, my letter to you addresses the following:
A solid foundation is required for any great institution to stand. The Rep's Tenth Street Theatre floor has supported 80 years of great performances-but we have now reached a critical point in our theater's infrastructure.  A new stage floor is necessary to continue our scheduled productions this season and into the future at The Rep-Toledo's Community Theatre. I appeal to all of you who have trod upon these boards or have enjoyed here the panorama of human expression that is live theater-We ask that you contribute to The Rep's Floor Fund in your end-of-the-year giving, so that we may start 2014 with a "solid foundation".

Our first production in 2014 is a show filled with side-splitting antics and our "second-most-requested-play-ever,"  Noises Off, beginning January 17th at the Tenth Street Theatre.

Wrapping up this autumn's productions, I offer "Cheers!" to the cast and crew of November's Arsenic and Old Lace, who treated us to a sold-out run of that delectable production. Our 2013 - 2014 season of great performances continues with:

A Christmas Carol, December 6, 7, 8 (At the Valentine Theatre)

Noises Off, January 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, 26

Love Letters, February 14, 15, 16

The Glass Menagerie, April 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13

Moonglow, May 8, 9, 10, 11

Young Frankenstein the Musical, June 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22

(With the exception of A Christmas Carol, all performances will take place on our Tenth Street Stage.)

As Tiny Tim would say, "God bless us, every one!"

A Christmas Carol is the traditional "must-see" to keep on your Christmas list.
