Dear Friends of the Rep,
I would first like to thank Amy Heuring for 2 years of hard work and dedication to the Rep as Board President. She has worked tirelessly for the good of the theatre, and has made a tremendous impact. A big thank you also goes out to our departing board members, Elizabeth Cottle, Cheri Kizaur, Nick Morgan and Patrick Flanagan, each contributing many hours to the Rep. Now Amy gets a rest, my journey begins. I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Chip Eddy, I am the new Board President of the Toledo Rep. I am honored to be a part of this wonderful theatre. I want to do all I possibly can to continue steering this establishment in the right direction and help to make us be the best we can be. With the help of our board, staff and you, we can do it. There are many exciting new things in the works. There are, unfortunately old issues to be solved. We are going to have more shows this year, new programs to be announced. We still strive for a solution to making the building ADA compliant , so that everyone has a chance to enjoy our shows. A lot to be done and a lot to look forward to.
We have been bringing you quality shows for over 80 years. We are still considered to be number one , as per the City Paper and much of the community. So please consider coming to one of our upcoming productions. We end the 20142015 Season with two Young Rep productions. "Dear Edwina, Jr." July 16, 17, 18, 19 (ages 7 to 13) and Rogers and Hammerstein's "State Fair" (ages 14 to 19) August 6, 7, 8, 9. The Young Rep productions are performed by young people and would be enjoyable for families to attend and have low ticket prices ranging $5 to $10.
Then we kick off our new 2015-2016 Season. First up is a Special Event for Labor Day weekend, September 4, 5, 6, Picnic written by William Inge and Directed by Brad Bowman. Next up, on September 25, 26, 27 and October 1, 2, 3, 4, we have 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a musical comedy with music and lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin and directed by Amy Heuring. Well, I guess she doesn't get a rest after all.
I want to also mention that Rep Ed Summer Camp still has a few openings. The camps take place at the University of Toledo Center for Performing Arts. Camp hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday, with a showcase performance at 3:00 on Friday. For kids 7 to 16 years of age. We have three, one week sessions available. Weeks of July 20, July 27 and August 10. The camps are fun and informative. Children are taught stage etiquette, audition skills, acting, music and dance. Theatre experience is great for building self confidence and communication skills, plus it is just plain fun!
Now is the time to buy a Season Subscription to the Rep. Save dollars, see a great season of shows. For a Season Subscription or to register for Rep Ed Summer Camp, please call Kathy at (419) 243-9277.
I hope to see you at the Rep and look forward to serving the Rep and her patrons.
