Letter from the President

Dear Theatre Colleagues,

November is the month when we consider how grateful we are for our blessings. Studies show that grateful people are happier and more successful. Here are a few things that have crossed my mind that we, as a theatre, have to be grateful for:

  • Our loyal audiences
  • Our dedicated staff, board, committee members, and volunteers
  • Our Rep Ed and Young Rep teachers, student-performers, and their parents
  • Talented actors, musicians, directors, designers, stage managers, and technicians who grace our theatre
  • Artistically and financially successful productions of The Pirates of Penzance and Detroit
  • Our "art-ners"-the Valentine Theatre, Toledo School for the Arts, the University of Toledo
  • Individuals, Foundations, and Companies who financially support our mission

To all of those people, we extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation today and every day.

It's another month and another show is ready to open. Director Wes Skinner, his talented cast, and committed production team are readying the Rep for the suspense-filled drama, Laura. You won't want to miss this powerful play that takes the audience through hairpin plot twists and turns. The cast (Eric Hale, Nolan Thomaswick, Brad Smith, Eric Simpson, Carol Ann Erford, Elizabeth Cottle, Dana Pilrose, and Glen Ackerman) has completely immersed themselves in their roles; their performances are riveting! Laura runs November 7-16. Tickets are available for purchase on the website or by calling the box office during regular business hours. Plan on spending a memorable evening with us to discover the mystery of Laura.

We are also in rehearsal for two more upcoming productions. A Christmas Carol is in full-swing at TSA. Thanks to support from The Andersons, we will have refreshed sets and costumes for our December production. Also, Director Deb Calabrese is excited about her very talented cast filled with fresh faces and old favorites. Blithe Spirit, directed by Matthew Gretzinger, has been cast. The cast includes Marissa Rex, Kate Argow, Cindy Bilby, Lindsey Denham, Kendra Beitzel, Matt Kizaur, and John Corcoran. Blithe Spirit promises to be a sparkling comedy, surely to brighten up the month of January.

Even though the year is not over and our season is still young, our season selection committee is hard at work putting together a wonderful slate of shows for you for 2015-2016. If you have any suggestions, feel free to send your ideas to president@toleodrep.org. All suggestions will be passed along to the committee. We are grateful for your input.

So in this season of family and friends, our Rep Family would like to thank you, our friends and supporters, for eighty-two seasons of artistic blessings and happiness for many more years to come.

Theatrically yours,

Amy Spaulding-Heuring
President, Toledo Repertoire Theatre
